We are preparing to sell our house and live in Oregon. Our house was built in the 1930s and our neighbor’s house was built in the 1920s. The neighbor’s house’s sewer line runs diagonally through our backyard (and across another neighbor’s property too) before it hooks up to the main line on the alley. We did not know about this when we bought our house (we only looked at sewer maps for our property), but later learned about it from our neighbor.
We never created an easement over it so I am wondering if it’s anything we have to disclose when selling our house. Our sewer line comes nowhere near their line and works fine. Any insights are welcome and we will probably speak to an attorney about it, but am just curious about disclosing something that’s on our property but not really belonging to us.
