My husband and I are second time home buyers, but the market is much more competitive than when we first bought 3 1/2 years ago.
We just got an accepted offer on a home that we love, but there’s a few things worrying me. I don’t know if it’s my gut telling me something isn’t right or anxiety that comes along with a big change.
The home we put an offer on had a horizontal crack in the basement that has been fixed 9 years ago with a transferrable warranty. We had a structural engineer come out, and he said it was fixed appropriately and just monitor it. Is it a poor decision to buy a home that has had previous issues in the foundation?
Additionally, we were just told that we will need to put in radon mitigation. The radon levels were 5.4. I don’t know much about this..
If you were in my position, would you walk away? Are these deal breakers?
Just want some second opinions.
