I am wondering if wiser folks can chime in and give advice to me. I am a first-time homebuyer and have been looking for homes for the past few months. I regrettably didn’t interview multiple agents and just picked a lady who seemed nice and I had heard good things from. At our first meeting she gave me a buyers agent contract with 2.7% and 500$ to be given to her after the purchase of a house. She made it seem like this was commonplace so I went ahead. Fast forward to last week when I wanted an offer on a house. She was great during the showings. However, once I wanted to offer she didn’t give me much advice other than suggesting the offer price. Nothing about appraisal contingency, escalation clauses or letters. Anyway I lost the offer. I know it’s a very competitive market and whatnot but I am worried about her ability to negotiate offers going forward. I also wish I hadn’t signed the agreement and wondering if I should ask to terminate or continue? Am I being unreasonable? Thanks.
