I’m selling a home in Washington state. I recently had an open house that was hosted by a third party broker from a different brokerage than my listing agent. This was not disclosed to me, and my broker made it seem like they were giving feedback from the open house. I discovered the third party broker at the open house when I did a drive by of my home to check the traffic.
Now, here’s the thing: the broker hosting the open was in my home earlier this week doing a showing for a buyer.
I have explicitly called out that I am not willing to do dual agency. Have had multiple conversations to that effect with listing broker and have indicated that on all forms that I’ve signed.
This seems like a conflict of interest to have a potential buyers agent showing my home, and an ethical breach to fail to inform me that another broker from another office would be hosting at my home. Am I off base in thinking this?
The market is cooling and it’s unclear that an offer will emerge, whether I’ll need to take a reduction, etc. I am tied up for months with these brokers with the listing agreement and am unsure of my options.
