Hey All! My husband and I are considering what type of property to buy in the SF Bay Area. So far we’ve seen both condos and SFHs that we like, and I’m trying to figure out if there are any factors I’m not considering. I’m assuming all the main statistics (size, price, etc.) are comparable
Pros of a SFH:
More outdoor space / your own yard Easier to do renovations (fewer approvals needed) No HOA fees Holds value better (maybe?) Own your own land (does it matter?)
Pros of a condo:
Can afford a much better location/town for the same $ (better value overall) More likely to be central/walkable Less maintenance needed (no worries about trash, heat, etc.)
Anything I’m missing? Those who were on the fence and went one way or the other, any regrets/experiences?
