Closing and leaving rental contract timing

We are set to close in a new home build end of June. We are currently in month to month lease that runs in the 15th.

My partner wants to give our landlords (who are wonderful) notice so we would be exiting the least July 15. I, on the other hand am a worrier and worry what would happen if somehow closing fell thru. I’d rather pay the extra month’s rent as it’s not an issue financially. We are in a really tough rental market in our city and scrambling to find a place would suck and our rent would be significantly higher than our current situation. Plus, no doubt, we’d have to enter into a likely 12 month lease.

What would you do? Now granted, we plan on reaching out to our LO and checking in over the next 3-4 weeks to get a feel, but we’ve been pre-approved several times over the 9 month process and the final stages are now happening. My wife is 100% certain we will close. Logically, I know we will, but I worry about that small chance we can’t or the builder comes in and exercises the escalation clause and our home is more than I want to spend.
