Can Sellers Change Their Minds 2 Days After Offer?

TL;DR: Is there a way for a homeowner to change who gets the house, 2 days after an offer was accepted? Our back-up offer now matches the accepted offer, and he would prefer us due to our letter.

Longer version:

I find myself in a very interesting situation and am looking for any thoughts/guidance.

Myself and my husband are moving to Savannah, GA — We put in a great offer (15k over) that we were told would signal this is “our home” but we got beaten.

We are now the ‘official’ back-up offer but have learned our back-up offer (which we’ve upped in terms and offer) matches the accepted offer. (If we had been asked in the first place if we wanted to match/outbid or if we HAD a higher offer, we could have easily won it, but the agents didn’t communicate.)

The owner of the house would prefer us, as we wrote in a personable letter and the others are buying sight unseen. The offer was accepted on Monday (2 days ago.) So basically, we’re all crossing our fingers, THE HOUSE OWNER INCLUDED, that the first offer falls through.

Is there a way for the owner to change his mind and give it to us? I’ve been googling a 5-day attorney review period?
