If I buy a house on my own without a Buyer’s Agent, can I get the ~3% commission paid to a Buyer’s Agent? How would I go about getting that agreed to, given I am not a Realtor?
Fwiw, my main interest in this is that I will need to buy a house in another city that I will own and live in for just 2 years (while my S.O. does coursework for a PhD), then sell it and then hopefully buy a house in a city that I will grow old in; I will take a big hit ($) buying a house for just two years when I go to sell it (Realtor commission), but that hit would be almost all offset if I could get the Buyer’s Agent commission on both homes. Renting a house or apartment is probably not an option, as we have a large dog, so yes I know renting might be best for the two years but I need to instead buy a cheap house (with cash, using a HELOC loan based on my 100% equity in my current home). I also know about Redfin’s 1% commission selling a house but as I went down that rabbit hole it looks like that also has a minimum (I think $3000) and then you are also required to use Redfin for a buyer’s agent.
