On 27/08 my offer for a property was accepted. The issue is the tenant keeps refusing access. The same estate agent selling the property is the one letting so they hold the keys. A valuation was supposed to be made on 10/09 and was rescheduled for 28/09 as the tenant refused access. Bear in mind this tenant had cancelled viewings when I was waiting outside and then rushed me out when they were available weeks later. The tenant doesn’t have an impossible work schedule to work around or anything from what she’s done me. The estate agent is refusing to serve the eviction notice until after the mortgage offer is accepted or even consider a notice to enter the apartment for the valuation. The estate agent mentioned tenants have to be treated as if with ‘kid gloves’ which is beyond me. I’ve lived in some abysmal properties and never reacted poorly to an estate agent requesting access. I’m starting to wonder how much I should be worrying about this tenant and the reason why the estate agent is putting them first.
I live in England, UK. What can I do? This has been the only ideal property I’ve found in a while. Conveyancing fees have already been paid.
