Now a day,the only way to buy a house in the Austin area right now is to go through bidding or make an offer above the selling price. Anybody interested in a house makes one offer and the person with the highest and best offer will will be able to purchase the house. However, what I’m noticing recently is that the seller is being greedy. Before the deadline the seller calls the top offers and trys to get them to increase their bid claiming that the offer is not the highest offer anymore, thus causing everyone to bid higher.
I just bid on a house 50k over the selling price and was the best offer before 30 minutes for the bidding window to close. The sales person talked with our realtor saying that your clients offer is in the top three and that it would be wise to increase your bid before the deadline, I didn’t accept the whole idea and I told the realtor that’s my maximum and I will not play this game anymore!
I’m not sure if this is acceptable or not, is that normal? Shall I try to digest this idea? Can I sue the sales person(builder) for making it a public bidding?
