Hello, my in-laws own about 10 acres of land that is half inside and half outside the city limits. We want to build on the land and the spot where the house will be will literally be half inside and half outside the city limits. Does anyone know if I’ll still have to pay city property taxes if the house is only partially in the city limits? We can probably move the house back to be completely outside the city limits, but the front half of our lot would still be in the city limits. I want to avoid having to pay city taxes (about $100 a month for the size house we want). There seems to be absolutely no benefit to having the house be inside the city limits. The county already provided fire/police/EMS to the city and there’s no trash pickup or anything like that. I can find no laws about what happens in this situation (not that I even really know where to start). I am in Kentucky if anyone has any insight or can point me in the right direction. Thanks.
