Better Homeowners Insurance

My mom is a widow, on SS, in a 4/2 in S FL, Broward County. She was just quoted ~$5000 for HOI for the year.

Houses was built in 1967, roof is about 18 years old. Between $13 – 20 grand to replace the roof. Windows are “crank styles”, not the impact resistant that would keep the rate low. Small electrical issue.

I don’t know much about homeowners insurance. Does that sound like a good rate? Does anybody know what we can do to keep or to get my mom a lower rate?
