I’m in CT. My parents moved down south a few years ago and have left behind their duplex home which i’d like to take over and renovate. It’s sitting there, full of a bunch of their stuff, but also needs a lot of work to be brought up to par. They are getting on in years and i’d like to convince them to let me take it over to build up as a rental, that could also swing money towards them for the home they are living in now.
Are there any assistance programs that could help rehab a home that i could take advantage of? or would i simply have to find a way to have them sign a title over to me and have to take out a new mortgage to perform the rehab? I heard there is money to lend to owners to rehab if they also live in the residence for one or two years.. anything like that?
