Composite wood decking is more expensive than regular wood decking, but I’m wondering how much of that cost is based on finishing the composite to look wood-like? What I’m getting at is, with lumber being so expensive, and with all the plastics we need to recycle, why not create a composite wood that isnt finished that is used for framing, to bring down cost and make a much longer-lasting house?
