I’m supposed to close on a home July 1st. The seller is currently renting the property and the tenants are supposed to move out before July 1st. They have made no effort yet to move out and don’t even have anywhere to go. If the tenants are still in the home by the closing date, am I legally able to walk away from the contract? There’s nothing specific about these circumstances in there, and the seller lied to the appraiser and said she was the one living there so it doesn’t look like a rental property. If I’m not able to walk away, can I ask for a lower price on the home?
